https://crashteamranking.com/no-major-glitches-ruleset/
2-4. First Seeding Phase
In the first seeding phase, players must submit three time trial records by screenshot or video. The submitted records will be compared to the Crash Team Ranking ( https://crashteamranking.com/ ) leaderboards and each player's seeding rank will be calculated. The seeding results will be posted on our website.
The seeding ranks will be used as a measure to decide the following:
・The grouping of the second seeding phase

・As a tie breaker
Players must submit their records from the following steps:

2-5. Qualifying for the Second Seeding Phase
The qualifications for the second seeding phase differs depending on the cup.
【Item Race Cup】
The top twelve players (numbers may vary depending on the total candidates) of the first seeding phase is guaranteed to qualify in the main tournament and is exempt from the second seeding phase. The rest of the candidates will proceed to the second seeding phase.
【No Item Race Cup】
The top sixteen players of the first seeding phase will proceed to the second seeding phase.
【4v4 Cup】
All teams will proceed to the second seeding phase.
2-6. Second Seeding Phase
The second seeding phase will be held only if there are more candidates than the maximum participants allowed.
The rules for the second seeding phase of each cup are the following:
【Item Race Cup】
Candidates will race in Item Race rule and players with better results will be qualified for the main tournament. The rules will be exactly the same as the rules in the main tournament. Detailed match ups will be announced after the registration period is over. A total of 24 players maximum, including the players who were exempt from the second seeding phase, will be qualified.
【No Item Race Cup】
Candidates will split into four groups of four and race in No Item Race rule. The top two players from each block, total eight, will be qualified for the main tournament.
【4v4 Cup】
Candidate teams will race in a 4v4 match to decide the top four teams. The blocks will be created from the team ranks from the first seeding phase. The rules will be exactly the same as the rules in the main tournament. Detailed match ups will be announced after the registration period is over. If there are an odd number of candidate teams, the top team from the first seeding phase might be exempt from the second seeding phase.
※The second seeding phases will be held 1-2 weeks before the main tournament. The dates will be decided by the players consensus of which day works for them the best.
※In all cups, the points earned from the races in the second seeding phase will not affect a player's points in the main tournament.
※The final seeding ranks will be decided from the first seeding phase.
※ The second seeding phase will apply the "No Major Glitches" from Crash Team Ranking. For details please refer to "3-5. Prohibited techniques".
2-7. Host Qualification
When signing up, players must check if he or she is able to host a race.
Those qualified will be called "host candidates". Being a host candidate or not may affect your starting position when racing. For further details, please refer to "3-6. Starting Positions".
3. Main Tournament Rules
3-1. Overview of the Main Tournament
The tournament procedure is very different among each cup. Make sure to correctly understand the procedure of the cups you will participate in.
【Item Race Cup】
-Creating the Brackets-
For each round, a block of six players will be created according to the seeding rank results. From the second round and further, it will be decided from the results of the previous round.
After all races in that round has finished, the top three players with the most total points will proceed to the next round.
In the Grand Final, the player with the most total points is the champion.
-Elimination Rule-
The double elimination rule is applied.
In a double elimination tournament, there are two sections: the winners tournament and the losers tournament. All players start from the winners side, and defeated players will move to the losers side. If a player is defeated twice (=is defeated in the losers side), that player is eliminated. In the winners side, the top three players of each round will proceed into the next match. The losers side's proceeding numbers may change depending on the number of the participants. The top three players remaining in the winners and losers side each will proceed into the Grand Final.
This rule makes the tournament less affected by match up inequality or unlucky loses. For a better visual explanation of the rule, please refer to the video below. (Subtitles in Japanese only).
Reference:Explained: Double Elimination Rule【CJC-Summer2021】
【No Item Race Cup】
-Creating the Brackets-
Blocks of four racers will be created according to the seeding ranks. There will be only semi-finals and finals since only eight players maximum can participate in the main tournament.
In the semi-finals, the top two players with the most total points will proceed into the final round.
In the final round, the player with the most total points is the champion.
-Elimination Rule-
The single elimination rule is applied. A player is eliminated after his or her first defeat in the round.
【4v4 Cup】
The procedure will vary depending on how many teams are participating.
・Between Two Teams
The team that won two matches is the champion team. A match consists of ten races.
・Among Three Teams
All three teams will race against the other two opponents in a league. Then the top two teams will proceed into a final match. If the top two cannot be decided from win/lose results, the total points earned will be the deciding factor.
・Among Four Teams
A single elimination tournament is created according to the seeding results. The team that won twice and no loss is the champion team. A bronze medal match will be held as well.
3-2. Numbers of Players, Laps, and Races per Match
The numbers of players, laps, and races in each match varies depending on the cup.
【Item Race Cup】
Players:6
Laps:5
Races:6 ( 9 in the Grand Final )
【No Item Race Cup】
Players:4
Laps:5
Races:8
【4v4 Cup】

3-4. Additional and Deductional Points
・PICK track bonus:a player will receive one bonus point if finished in 1st place at the track he or she picked in the BAN PICKs. (not in 4v4 cup).
・Bug report submission: when a player submits a bug report and is considered valid by the judge, one point is deducted from the player who submitted and that race will have a rematch. In 4v4 Cup, four points will be deducted from the team who submitted the report. Total points are only valid within each cup. [updated 5/4]
※For more details on bug reports, please refer to "3-15. Bug Report Submission".
・Grand Final points: In the Grand Finals, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd players from the winners side are given 4pts, 3pts, and 2pts respectively to grant them advantage.
・Intro skip penalty: if all players skip the pre-race intro movie, all players will be deducted 1 point each for penalty (intro skip bugs are confirmed and must be avoided). Intro skip bugs can especially occur among PS5 players. All players must make sure to turn the intro skip option off.
・Host Disconnection: when a host disconnects during race due to the hosts' connection problem, the host will be deducted 3 points. For more details, please refer to "3-14. Disconnection".
3-5. Prohibited Techniques
In the second seeding phase and the main tournament, the No Major Glitches rule from Crasg Team Ranking is applied. The following will be prohibited due to this rule.
・Unexpected glitch shortcuts (all shortcuts listed in the link below).
・Speed ghosts earned from intentionally losing reserves (unusual acceleration gained from certain situations). Combining this with turbo pads or the wall climb at Coco Park is included.
Reference:The No Major Glitches Ruleset - Crash Team Ranking
https://crashteamranking.com/no-major-glitches-ruleset/
Additionally, polswid technique using the super engine item is also prohibited.
3-6. Starting Positions
For the starting positions of each players, we define the host position (front low most left) as ①, then ②, ③, ④ to the right, and ⑤, ⑥, ⑦, and ⑧at the back row, respectively. Each player will decide a starting position in every match. This decision will also affect the order of the BAN PICKs (see "3-9. BAN PICKs").
The procedure for deciding the starting positions vary for each cup.
【Item Race Cup】
(1) Among players who are considered qualified for host, each player must decide whether to host or not. The procedure to decide will be based on the order explained below. If none of the host candidates would prefer to host, the last candidate remaining must do so.
(2) Once a host is decided, the remaining players will follow the same order below to decide their starting positions.
Orders When Deciding Starting Positions (prioritized in ascending order)
・In Round 1
The following player gets to decide a starting position first.
1. The player with the higher seeding rank
・In Round 2 and Further, Winners Side
The following players gets to decide first.
1. The player with the higher total results so far in that cup
2. the player with the higher seeding rank
・In the Losers Side
The following players gets to decide first.
1. The player who remained longer in the Winners side
2. The player with the higher total results so far in that cup
3. The player with the higher seeding rank
・Grand Final
The following players gets to decide first.
1. Players with the higher results from the Winners Side
2. Players with the higher results from the Losers Side
【No Item Race Cup】
The following player gets to decide a starting position first.
(In No Item Race Cup only, players who did not meet the host criteria can become host as well.)
・Semi-Finals
The following player gets to decide a starting position first.
1. The player with the higher seeding rank
・Final
The following player gets to decide a starting position first.
1. The player with the higher total results so far in that cup
2. the player with the higher seeding rank
【4v4 Cup】
(1) When both teams have host candidates who passed the connection test, the team with the higher seeding rank will have priority to decide whether to host. If only one team can provide a host, then that team must do so.
If both teams have no host candidates, the team with the higher seeding rank can decide whether to host. However, in this case, teams may suggest a change of host after 5 races have finished.
(2) The starting positions for each player in the hosting team will be ① ③ ⑥ ⑧. The other team's starting positions will be ② ④ ⑤ ⑦.
It is up to the team to decide who will be in which given positions.
3-7. Position/Player Swaps in 4v4 Cup
Position swaps and player swaps are allowed up to twice per match. A team can change as many players or positions as they want in one swap. If a host is being changed during a match, positions ① and ②, ③ and ④, ⑤ and ⑥, ⑦ and ⑧ will be swapped (this whole process is considered one of two swaps). Other position changes will be counted as one swap each.
3-8. When a Host Candidate Is Missing
When creating a lobby in Item Race Cup or No Item Race Cup, if none of the players can host then an alternative host will be chosen from the admins. An alternative host will not participate in the race and will first remain unmoved. Once all players have gone far enough from the starting line, the alternative host will move its kart to the side where it will not interfere the race. If an alternative host is seen interfering the race, he or she may be disqualified from the tournament.
In 4v4 Cup, if none of the players can host everyone in both teams, each team must reduce one player and attempt a lobby of 3v3. If a lobby cannot be created still, an alternative host will be given as explained above.
3-9. BAN PICKs
In all cup rules, the tracks are decided from BAN PICKs. This process is consisted of the BAN phase and the PICK phase, where players will take turns to suggest tracks they do not want/want to race in.
In Item Race and No Item Race, the process will flow as the following:
(1) BAN Phase 1: Each player in the match will suggest one track to BAN (banning a track from being picked). BAN tracks must not overlap.
(2) BAN Phase 2: the same process as above is repeated.
(3) PICK Phase: Each player in the match will suggest one track to PICK (choosing a track to race in) from any of the tracks that were not banned in the BAN phase. PICK tracks must not overlap.
(4)PICK Phase 2 (No Item Race and Item Race Grand Final only) : the same process as above is repeated.
(5) Players will race in each picked track in order.
Each BAN/PICK suggestion must be done within 30 seconds after the previous suggestion.
The order of players suggesting will be as the following. The numbers represents a starting position.
【Item Race Cup】
・In All Matches Except for the Grand Final
BAN Phase: ⑤ → ⑥ → ① → ④ → ② → ③ → ③ → ② → ④ → ① → ⑥ → ⑤
PICK Phase:③ → ② → ④ → ① → ⑥ → ⑤
※When there are less than 6 racers, the redundant number will be skipped (e.g. when there are 5 racers, position ⑥ will be skipped). The compensating track(s) will be picked randomly from tracks that are not banned.
※ When there is an alternative host, the BAN PICK order will be the following:
BAN Phase:⑤ → ⑥ → ⑦ → ④ → ② → ③ → ③ → ② → ④ → ⑦ → ⑥ → ⑤
PICK Phase:③ → ② → ④ → ⑦ → ⑥ → ⑤
※When there is an alternative host and the number of racers is less than the expected number, the BAN PICK order will include the host as a player but only skipping position ①'s suggestions. [updated 4/29]
・Grand Final
9 races will be held in the Grand Final. The three players from the Winners side gets to pick 2 tracks. After the same order as above, the 3rd, 2nd, and then the 1st place player from the winners final will pick in this order.
【No Item Race Cup】
Semi-Finals/Final
BAN Phase:① → ④ → ② → ③ → ③ → ② → ④ → ①
PICK Phase:① → ④ → ② → ③ → ③ → ② → ④ → ①
※ When there are 3 racers, the redundant position ④ will be skipped. The compensating track will be picked randomly from tracks that are not banned.
BAN Phase:① → ③ → ② → ② → ③ → ①
PICK Phase:① → ③ → ② → ② → ③ → ①
※ When there is an alternative host, the BAN PICK order will be the following:
BAN Phase:⑤ → ④ → ② → ③ → ③ → ② → ④ → ⑤
PICK Phase:⑤ → ④ → ② → ③ → ③ → ② → ④ → ⑤
※When there is an alternative host and the number of racers is less than the expected number, the BAN PICK order will include the host as a player but only skipping position ①'s suggestions. [updated 4/29]
【4v4 Cup】
In 4v4 Cups, BAN PICKs will be suggested from each team. The order of BAN PICKs will be the following with one team defined as A and the other as B.
BAN Phase:A → B → A → B → A → B
PICK Phase:A → B → B → A → A → B → B → A → A → B
3-10. PICK Limitations
There will be limitations to the amount of PICKs a player or a team can suggest throughout each cup. This will not include PICKs in the seeding phase. Details will be explained in the Discord server.
3-11. Solutions to Tie Results (Race)
When two or more players end up in the same finish time in a race, all such players will be given the same place and the corresponding points, regardless of the place shown in the game. For example, if there are two 2nd place players in an item race, the points given will be 12 pt、10 pt、10pt、6 pt、4 pt、 and 2 pt respectively. However, the place shown in the game will be reflected only in 4v4 races when two or more players in the same team fall into this situation.
3-12. Solutions to Tie Results (Match)
When two or more players end up in the same total points after a match is over, the superiority is decided in various criteria listed below.
【Item Race Cup】
・Winners Side: Round 1
1. The player with higher seeding ranks
・Winners Side: Round 2 and Further
1. The player with higher total results so far in that cup
2. The player with higher seeding ranks
・Losers Side
1. The player who remained longer in the Winners side
2. The player with higher total results so far in that cup
3. The player with higher seeding ranks
・Grand Final
If there are two or more champions, a Sudden Death match will begin (explained below). For ties between 2nd places and lower, the following players will have superiority.
1. The player with the higher results from the Winners Side
2. The player with the higher results from the Losers Side
【No Item Race Cup】
・Semi-Finals
1. The player with higher total results so far in that cup
・Final
If there are two or more champions, a Sudden Death race will begin (explained below). For ties between 2nd places and lower, the following players will have superiority.
1. The player with higher total results In the Semi-Finals
2. The player with higher seeding ranks
【4v4 Cup】
All tied matches will have a sudden death race.
3-13. Sudden Death
In the grand final, if there are two or more players with the highest score and a champion cannot be decided, a single race sudden death match will begin. The race will follow the same rule as in usual races of that cup, and starting position will be determined in the same procedure as the grand final. The track will be chosen through the following process. The PICK limitation rule in 3-10. PICK limitations will also apply in sudden death.
PICK Suggestion Order
・2 Players:② → ① (Repeat)
・3 Players:② → ③ → ① (Repeat)
・4 Players:③ → ② → ④ → ① (Repeat)
・5 Players:③ → ② → ④ → ① → ⑤ (Repeat)
・6 Players:③ → ② → ④ → ① → ⑤ → ⑥ (Repeat)
・4v4 Cup:Host Team → Client Team (Repeat)
(1) Both players must suggest three pick tracks in turns starting from the player at position ②. Tracks that were chosen during the grand final can be picked again, unless it does not surpass the pick limitations.
(2) The other racer(s) will accept or deny the suggested track. When more than half of the racers accept the suggested track, the PICK phase is over and a single race will begin.
(3) If none of the six suggested tracks were accepted, a track will be chosen randomly from all the other tracks that were not brought up during the PICK phase.
(4) The winner (team) in this race becomes the champion of the cup. If a winner still cannot ve decided from this race, another sudden death will start over.
※When an alternate host is needed, please refer to "3-8 When a host candidate is mssing" and "3-9 BAN and PICKs".
3-14. Disconnection Problems
・If a player disconnects before the race begins, all players must return to the lobby and restart the joining process. The party must disband for the starting positions are not preserved even when the host selects "quit the race with party".
・If the host disconnects during a race, all players must continue racing and then submit a screenshot of their finish time. The scores will be given based on these times.
・If a client disconnects during a race, the disconnected player is regarded as 4th place. If more than one client disconnects during a race, the player who disconnected earlier will be given a lower place. For example, if client A disconnected first and client B disconnected next, then client A is regarded 4th and client B is 3rd. The order of disconnection is determined from the referee's perspective.
3-15. Bug Report Submission
If any of the following bug occurs during a race, players can submit a bug report only if none of the players have crossed the finish line. A bug report submission is allowed only once per cup for each player/team (another submission is allowed in a different cup).
When a bug has occurred, the player must stop the kart immediately and must submit a video clip to the referee (the media used for submission can be in any form). A report submission after any of the players have finished a race or a report that was not immediately submitted cannot be accepted. A report is also unacceptable if the bug was deliberately triggered by the player.
Acceptable bug reports
・Placement display bug (in Item Races only, for it will affect the item range. The report will be accepted only if none of the players reach lap 4. Not acceptable in other cups.)
・Lap checkpoint bug
・The "blue orb bug" which the orb disappears before reaching the 1st player
・Other unusual bugs that heavily affects the race
Reference:Checkpoint Glitches - How to solve & avoid them - YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDUgzLV6hy4
Deduction Points When Submitting a Bug Report after a report has been accepted, the current race becomes invalid and the race will start over. The player (team) who submitted the bug report will be deducted a(some) point(s) from his or her score. (Deduction points are only valid within each cup). If the report was declined, the current race must be continued and there will be no point deductions. Therefore we recommend all players to continue racing until the referee announces a decision.
Item Race Cup / No Item Race Cup・・・1 pt
4v4 Cup・・・4 pts (3pts in a 3v3 match with an alternative host) [updated 5/4]
Unacceptable Bug Reports
・A placement display bug after a race is over (points will be given based on finish times, not placements)
・When a player falls into and is stuck in the transparent space at the right of the super turbo pad in Out of Time.
・A bug which a blue orb misses the 1st player and enters a second lap.
・A bug which a player keeps an invisible shield even after the shield has visibly disappeared.
Reference:How to Escape the Glitch Space in Out of Time (Japanese) - YouTube
※Why is there a point deduction when a report is accepted?
An unexpected bug is unfortunate, but most bugs written above is avoidable by driving skills or improving your internet environment. Restarting a race may affect other player's psychological conditions to some extent, thus players must understand that a report submission must be avoided as much as possible.
3-16 Track Restrictions in Item Race/4v4 Cup
・Hyper Spaceway, Retro Stadium, and Spyro Circuit cannot be suggested in the BAN PICKs.
・The gate shortcut in Tiger Temple which can be activated by hitting an item must not be used.
3-17. Track Restrictions in No Item Race Cup
・"Retro Stadium" cannot be suggested in the BAN PICKs.
・Activating the "!" crates in some tracks is limited to the following:
-
Activating the "!" crate is allowed
・Meteor Gorge
・Thunder Struck
・Electron Avenue
-
Activating the "!" crate is prohibited
・Clockwork Wumpa
・Tiny Temple
・Barin Ruins
・Assembly Lane
・Nina's Nightmare
-
Others
・Out of Time
- The player at starting position ② MUST activate the "!" crate in lap 1. All players MUST NOT activate this crate for the rest of the race.
・Drive-Thru Danger
- Players must go through the right orange path of the first gate after the starting position every lap.
Players who violate these rules will be regarded as last place in that race. (Not including the AI drive after race).
If a player has activated any of the "!" crates listed above, the player must restore it to the original state and stop the kart where it will not interfere the race.
In Out of Time, if the player in the 2nd starting position failed to activate the crate, the race will start over.
3-18. Item Restrictions in No Item Race Cup
・Any use of items (power ups) is prohibited in No Item Race Cup. This includes winning attacks (using an item to show off when finishing a race).
・Players who violated this rule will be regarded as last place of that race.
・If two or more players violates this rule in the same race, all such players will be regarded as last place of that race.
・If a second violation was confirmed from the same player in the tournament, the player will be disqualified.
・When a violation was confirmed, the race may have to start over if the item use has likely affected the result of the race. This decision will be made by referee.

There is a possibility that the host is dropped out during the survival match due to defeat of the host.

When a host player has dropped out and the next race is an item race, other host candidates will have priority for the next host. If there are no host candidates, then a host will be chosen randomly from all surviving players including foreign players. If the next race is a no item race, the host will be chosen randomly likewise.
The starting positions of the players will be decided randomly except for the host.
